World Leaders Magazine is an online provider of news and articles about political leaders throughout the world. Evolving from a history as a printed publication World Leaders Magazine.com features exclusive audio interviews. The news and content on the site is headline driven and written for selective reading. With unique reports and articles World Leaders Magazine is a content provider for other news agencies and sells its audio interviews to radio stations. The initial briefing was that the website should have a 'printed' feel and emphasise the quality, seriousness and authority of the content shown. As the magazine is mainly financed through advertising it was important to establish clear areas for advertising separate from content areas. AE worked on the basis of the existing branding guidelines (for print) and developed a new approach how these guidelines are applied to the Web. An important task in designing the page layout was to establish different levels of navigation and content and identify areas on the page which could play different roles as content, advertising or navigation spaces. The design is extremely simple working almost exclusively with typography, colour and simple shapes like outlines of country maps for geographical organised news content. We've put a strong emphasis on the readability of the information as well as the overall usability of the site. |
