The College's Marketing Department defined many different roles the new site should fullfil: To advertise LCP to new students, in a competitive marketplace. To inform enrolled students about the services and infrastructure that LCP offers. To be a point of contact for ex-students. AE created a concept based on three routes for the three types of users, as each user enters the site with different expectations and questions. The only common expectation is to perceive the LCP as an exciting, constantly reinventing, creative arena, buzzing with people and ideas. "We felt the site, both the design and usability, should reflect what LCP is like and give a taste of student life there. So the style is fresh, new, exciting and real. When the user enters one of the three routes or one of the main links to gallery or news he encounters 'interruptions' in form of 'LCP Idents'. These are short 10-20sec Flash animations with sound, which remind him where he is and where he is going. Most of the site's pages are waiting for the users actions to reveal the right content, but these animations, take the user by the hand and the site 'reacts', welcomes, and draws the user in. They also reintroduce the LCP-logo in a new way each time. AE also developed a customised content administration system, that delivers an easy to use solution for keeping course information, news and gallery exhibitions up-to-date. |
