inIVA (Institute for international visual arts) is a London based Arts organisation which is designed to bring the work of artists from culturally-diverse backgrounds to the attention of the widest possible public. Anchored in the diversity of contemporary British culture and society, inIVA engages with culturally-diverse practices and ideas, both local and global. AE has worked very closely with inIVA on the re-design and evolution of the previously existing website. A very important part of the process was to re-organise and structure the site content. AE utilised the specialist expertise of the inIVA staff to plan a site which will provide information for all audiences. The key concept was the regrouping of the site around a pool of artists and their projects, allowing users to track the development of the relationship between inIVA and the artists. "We hired ae-pro to specify and build our redesigned website. Their approach to this was extremely thorough and was conducted with extensive communication and dialogue between the two companies." says Graham O'Brien Multimedia Producer of inIVA. "This resulted in a site specification plan which was both logical and original, and which most importantly fitted perfectly the requirements of the different departments of the organisation, while maintaining an overall coherence and clarity of organisational identity." "We believe that navigation and Web content are inseparable. For the inIVA website we developed a transparent navigation system, clear, elegant and easily learned" says Hilla Neske of AE. Whereas the site is very strongly driven by clearly structured information which is available both as an text only easy-access site catering for users with disabilities and a more advanced main site using a DHTML menu to speed up navigation, the highlight of the new inIVA.org is the online gallery: x-space. |
Links inIVA x-space Highlights x-space shows projects which were specifically developed for the internet. The interface to these projects is a three dimensional space which was developed in Flash 5. The unique interactive browsing experience creates a truly digital gallery. Services Concept, design, interaction design, development Quote We are extremely happy with the resulting website. It is professional and attractive, the priority that ae-pro placed on user interface design has translated into a website with a range of navigational functions that allow users to access information in a clear and accessible manner Graham O'Brian |
