On the 26th of April 2002 BBC and ITV ran the most ground breaking Party Political Broadcast in PPB history. Breaking with the tradition of the talking head or political portrait. The electoral commission has mooted for sometime the possibility of ppb's being produced in advert form. The seven films will run across both channels introducing the British public to a new kind of party political broadcast. Green Party TV. Grouped within the standard 4.40min slot the films vary in length from 30, 40 to 60 second. Each film has a differing message from global warming to the state of Britain's railways. The productions range from 35mm special effects work to gritty documentary. AE worked with Jack Price (RSA films) on three of the seven films and created animations which overlay and surround a child which narrates the pieces. Using simple graphical forms and dynamics which are probably more familiar to web users AE managed to create pieces which have a futuristic but also accessible atmosphere. |
