Remote Control
Nick Bell Design

The 'Visual Essay' is a new feature since Eye Magazine's relaunch in 1998. Designers are invited to contribute their views on a particular theme in a purely visual way. 'Remote Control' was the first in the series of essyas. It expounds views on technology and tactility - the tactile relationship between user and machine.

One of the key visual elements of the piece was an 'any object' whose primary function was latent; it could have been anything , a cartidge maybe, or an engine, but its shape and form suggested further uses.
