We think of shorts as research, helping us develop our skills by indulging our ideas about user interactivity, cycles of time, space, motion or texture. Shorts can take the form of interactive elements, allowing the user to manipulate visuals dynamically. Sometimes the shorts can simply play out a sequence without any interaction required from the user. Individual shorts can often have elements of personality about them. They could be coy, disruptive, placid or hectic. They can often take on traits of the person who created them, reflecting a particular mind-set or current mood. AE-Shorts is a synthetic space constantly in progress. Working continuosly on Shorts allows us to develop our ideas while extending our skills and investigating new possibilities for user interaction. The future development of Shorts will be very iterative and will involve us adding new ideas as often as possible. We would very much appreciate any feedback on any aspect of the project.
